Woman rescued by emergency services after falling down Plymouth Hoe steps

A serious emergency response was sent to Plymouth Hoe last night, 8 April.

HM Coastguard and the RNLI responded to reports that a woman had fallen on steps near the shoreline.

The incident occurred on the shoreline below the The Terrace cafe with the RNLI all-weather lifeboat launched as part of the rescue operation.

Thankfully the rescue operation was a success, and the woman was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

Plymouth Plus understands that the woman suffered broken bones as a result of the fall.

A HM Coastguard spokesperson told Plymouth Plus:

"A woman reported to have fallen on steps by the shoreline near Plymouth Hoe at about 7.45pm on 7 April was assisted into the care of South Western Ambulance Service by Plymouth Coastguard Rescue Team and the crew of the RNLI's all-weather lifeboat from Plymouth."
