A large police presence was spotted on Western Approach in Plymouth on the evening of Monday, 31 March.
Police officers erected a cordon inside the Western Approach car park.
Officers remained in the area for some time and were seen placing items into an evidence bag.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:
"Officers were called to reports of an assault on Western Approach, Plymouth at around 8pm on Monday 31 March.
It was reported that two men had been assaulting a woman.
On arrival, the victim and suspects had left the scene and despite an area search, could not be located.
Enquiries are ongoing.
