Stolen Range Rover crash destroys Plymouth bus stop

A bus stop on Embankment Road in Plymouth was completely destroyed in the early hours of this morning, 16 April.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 1am this morning following reports of a serious collision involving the vehicle and the bus stop.

The force of the impact left debris scattered across the pavement and road, with the bus stop flattened.

Witnesses reported seeing two individuals, believed to be the male driver and a passenger, exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot.

The pair had left before emergency services arrived. Police and recovery battled to recover the Range Rover from the wreckage.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"We were called shortly before 1am on Wednesday 16 April following a report of a Range Rover vehicle colliding with a bus stop on Embankment Road, Plymouth.
"A male driver and a passenger were then said to have exited the vehicle, believed stolen, and left the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing."

Police are currently unable to ascertain if the collision caused any injuries due to the identity of the driver and passenger being unknown.
