Conspiracy to Murder and Organised Crime Allegations

Multiple defendants are accused of conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to murder and money laundering, with alleged offences spanning from July 2023 to February 2025.

All eight are also charged with participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group under the Serious Crime Act 2015.

Augustus has additionally been charged with applying a destructive substance with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear at Plymouth Crown Court in June.

Why the Old Bailey May Hear the Case

Despite the incident taking place in Plymouth, prosecutors have indicated that the case falls within the jurisdiction of the Central Criminal Court in London — known as the Old Bailey.

The Old Bailey handles the most serious criminal trials in England and Wales, including cases of murder, terrorism and organised crime.

Legal experts suggest the scale and nature of this case, involving multiple suspects and cross-regional conspiracy charges, make it a likely candidate for trial at the Old Bailey.

What Happens Next

The defendants will first appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court, where the charges will be formally presented.

The case is then expected to be transferred to Crown Court, and possibly the Central Criminal Court, for trial.
