In a major development in the Plymouth acid attack investigation, Devon and Cornwall Police have today confirmed that the National Crime Agency (NCA) are now involved, as the case expands beyond the UK.

The attack, which left a man fighting for his life in a specialist burns unit, has triggered a nationwide and now international response as authorities work to locate the suspects. Police have stated that this was a targeted assault and is believed to be linked to organised crime.

CCTV footage captured the two suspects in the quiet Wiltshire village of Grittleton, over 140 miles away from the crime scene.

Locals reported that the individuals knocked on doors, asking to charge their mobile phones, claiming their vehicle had broken down. A resident allowed them access to power before giving them a lift to a nearby train station.

Devon and Cornwall Police have now confirmed that the men are no longer believed to be in Wiltshire. Their movements suggest that they may have fled the country, prompting the involvement of the NCA, which specialises in tackling serious organised crime on a global scale.

Officers are now working with international law enforcement agencies to track their whereabouts.
