One man arrested after ‘major’ incident in Plymouth

One man has been arrested following a major incident in Plymouth tonight, 9 April.

Police, ambulances, and fire crews were spotted on Barne Road in the St Budeaux area of Plymouth shortly after 9pm.

Fire crews were first seen gaining access to a property shortly before explosions and smashing sounds were heard.

Emergency services then retreated from the scene, evacuated the public, and set up a cordon.

A significant number of armed police then arrived, and the cordon was extended to approximately 500 metres.

Four specialist units from the ambulance service Hazardous Area Response Team were sent from Exeter to the scene.

Armed officers were seen constantly arriving and running around with machine guns.

The man who was arrested was taken away from the scene in a police van on blue lights.
