Man stabbed in Plymouth after broad daylight attack

A man has been stabbed in the Park Avenue area of Devonport today (10 April).

Emergency services were called at 3.20pm to the Park Avenue area following reports of an assault involving two men who are known to each other.

Police confirmed the victim, a man in his 50s, sustained a suspected knife wound to his hand.

The injury is not believed to be life-threatening, and he has been taken for medical assessment.

A 51-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.

A cordon was set up at the scene to allow for a full investigation. The scene guard has now been removed.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"Emergency services were called at 3.20pm [10 April] to the Park Avenue area of Devonport, following a report of an assault.
"It was reported that an altercation involving two people, who are known to each other, had taken place.
"The victim, a man in his 50s, has sustained a suspected knife wound to his hand. The injury is not believed to be serious, and he will be taken to be checked over.
"A 51-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is in police custody.
"A scene guard was in place while the investigation carried out and has since been removed."
