Man seriously injured after Liskeard stabbing

A 53-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent following a serious stabbing in Liskeard, last night, 20 March.

The incident occurred at around 10:55 pm in the Baytree Hill area of Liskeard.

Emergency services, including the Cornwall Air Ambulance and the police helicopter, attended the scene.

Despite reports claiming the victim was 'airlifted to hospital' Plymouth Plus can reveal that this was NOT the case.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) told Plymouth Plus:

"We were called at 22:45hrs on Thursday 20 March to an incident in Liskeard.
We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.
We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Derriford Hospital."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police told Plymouth Plus:

"Police were called at 10.55pm on Thursday 20 March to the Baytree Hill area of Liskeard, following reports that a man has been stabbed.
It was reported that two men, who are believed to know each other, had been involved in an altercation on Church Street.
Emergency services attended including the air ambulance and the police helicopter.
The victim has sustained a suspected stab wound and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital. His injuries are serious but are not currently thought to be life threatening or life changing.
A 53-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains in police custody.
