Horror scenes after biker seriously injured in Devonport crash

Cumberland Road was closed for more than 15 hours after a ‘major’ crash involving a car and motorcycle.

A large puddle of blood was scattered across the road in Devonport which remained closed until the early hours of this morning Saturday 8 February.

Police have now confirmed that a motorcyclist has sustained serious life-changing injuries.

The Devon Air Ambulance was sent to the scene and a seriously injured biker was rushed to hospital by land ambulance with a police escort.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following a road traffic collision in Plymouth.
Officers were called at around 12.30pm on Friday 7 February following reports a white and blue motorcycle had collided with a black Ford Mondeo on Cumberland Road in Devonport.
The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious, life-changing injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital. 
The driver of the Ford Mondeo is assisting police with their enquiries.
Local officers and roads policing officers attended the scene and conducted a thorough investigation.
The road was closed for several hours whilst the investigation work took place and police would like to thank members of the public for their understanding and patience.
Anybody who witnessed the collision or saw a black Ford Mondeo or white and blue motorcycle in and around the area at the time of the collision, is asked to please make contact as soon as possible.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anybody with any dashcam footage or CCTV.
