The heroic actions of police officers this evening led to a woman being brought to safety from a footbridge over the A38 in Plymouth.
Officers rushed to the Beaumaris Road footbridge, which crosses the A38 and links to Delamere Road, after receiving reports of concern for a woman’s welfare.
The A38 eastbound was closed during the incident, with traffic held between the Manadon Roundabout and the Forder Valley Interchange while police worked to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.

The life-saving officers successfully engaged with the woman and brought her to safety. She is now receiving the support she needs.
The efforts of those involved serve as a powerful reminder of the vital work our emergency services carry out every day to protect lives and support people in crisis.
