A fire broke out at Plymouth’s nuclear dockyard last night, 16 April prompting a large response from the emergency services.
Emergency services rushed to reports of a fire at HMNB Devonport, home to Royal Navy nuclear submarines.
Plymouth Plus can reveal that the cause of the fire was a fault in a generator and that three fire engines attended the incident.

Firefighters used four dry powder extinguishers and one carbon dioxide extinguisher to bring the blaze under control.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service told Plymouth Plus:
"We were called at 9.50pm on Wednesday 16 April to attend a small electrical fire located in a generator at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.
"Three appliances from Camels Head, Crownhill and Greenbank fire stations attended and used four dry powder and one carbon dioxide fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire."
HMNB Devonport is the largest naval base in Western Europe and plays a central role in maintaining the nation’s nuclear capabilities.
