Armed police swarm Plymouth Morrisons after knife threat

Armed police were called to Marlborough Street in Plymouth at around 10.50 am on Sunday, 27 April.

Police responded to reports of a man making threats while allegedly in possession of two knives outside the Morrisons in Devonport.

A man in his 40s from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of a Class A drug.

The man was released on bail until 26 May while police continue their enquires.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall told Plymouth Plus:

"Police were called at 10.50am on Sunday 27 April following reports that a man was making threats in a Plymouth street.
"The man was reportedly in possession of two knives outside Morrisons in Malborough Street.
"Local and firearms officers attended.
A man in his 40s from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of Class A drug.
"He was released on bail until 26 May pending further enquiries.
"We can confirm officers received a report of two knives being located this morning [Monday 28] in a nearby property which have been seized as part of the ongoing enquiries."
